BARN Bites Free Grab & Go Meal Program
posted about 1 year ago by CarolynG from Bainbridge Prepares
The BARN Bites Program provides free meals produced and packaged by volunteers in the BARN kitchen to help support individuals and families experiencing food insecurity as a result of the current economic crisis.
3-4 different packaged entrees each week (Vegetarian options available), each package serving 1-2 people.
Week 1 Production: approximately 50 bags with 3-4 entrees per bag (Total of approx. 150-200 meals)
Meals will be appropriately cooled and packed in to-go containers. For quick pick up, an assortment of that week’s entrees will be pre-bagged. Each bag will contain a page with corresponding ingredient lists, allergens, and reheating and freezing instructions.
Eligible participants will complete the online form to add their name to the recipient list. The first 50 applicants will be enrolled in the program, and notified of the pickup date, location and time. The form will close after 50 applicants have submitted. Also some extra bags may be out aside for specific island organizations that have pre-arranged pick up.
Pick up will be on Friday afternoons in front of BARN from 4pm-6pm unless pre-arranged.
Production will occur with no more than three individuals in the kitchen at a time. Producers and packagers will wear masks and gloves for all food production and follow all the appropriate KPHD and health department standards.
